B.F.T. (BACHELOR OF FASHION TECHNOLOGY) - 3 YRS.

 

The Fashion Technology program is designed to provide the student with the tools necessary to take the first step for careers in Fashion Designing, Textile Designing, Apparel Manufacturing, Merchandising and Retailing.

 

The B.F.T. programme aims at producing professional designers who are equipped to exploit the career opportunities available in the broad field of Fashion and who are keen to respond to the challenges of designing for a better future.

 

The curriculum is designed to provide competency for a wide range of occupation in the Fashion-industry. Theoretical knowledge and practical skills are applies in clothing construction, industrial sewing, flat pattern making, designing, textile designing, fashion sketching, construction, cutting, manual & computerized grading & pattern making.

 

SCOPE OF STUDY

FASHION DESIGNING

 

The students are trained to understand the elements of design, the history of clothing and how it has evolved and the method of developing and creating an ensemble.

 

TEXTILE DESIGNING

The science of fiber to fabric & constructing fabric trough various methods, and finishing of fabric including printing & Dyeing.

 

APPAREL MANUFACTURING

The basic knowledge of developing three dimensional patterns using Drafting, draping and Grading methods.

 

MERCHANDISING

The acumen sourcing of yarn to Fabric, trend, forecasting, product development, coordination, marketing, sales, store operations and management come under the merchandising umbrella.

 

COMPUTER AIDED DESIGNING

Students are prepared for the technology based designing of textiles and garments using advanced computer software. At the end of 4th semester students are required to design and develop a theme-based line of garments. Internship forms an integral part of the curriculum.

 

INDUSTRIAL VISITS

Students are given good exposure to Apparel industry through visits rranged in the course curriculum.

 

PLACEMENT CELL

After the successful completion of the course, the placement cell assists students for placements in international firms.

COLLEGE IS ACCREDITED BY FRENCH FASION ACCREDITATION BOARD (FFAB)

SEHEME OF EXAMINATION (BBA)

 

The scheme as formulated by Mahatma Gandhi University requires a minimum pass mark of 720 for final award Degree by the University. The maximum mark a candidate can score in the said course is 1800. This is subject to minimum pass percentage required for each paper in a particular course of the study. For all semester wise courses, university public examinations are conducted annually.
